REFLECTIONS

Do you know what it feels like to live in a country where the sound of thunder is really that of bombs exploding in far-away cities, and you fear that the planes will soon be over your head destroying your home, and all those you cherish.

Do you know what it's like to live in a country where you have to watch every word that you say, especially about the government and its processes, lest someone—maybe even a neighbor--is waiting to report you to the government police, who will be glad to pick you up and throw you into a prison or a labor camp.

Do you go to church on Sundays?  Imagine what it must be like to have to go to a religious service in hiding because there's a law against worshiping God? And beware if you get caught!

We have no idea, do we? Yet, this could happen to us were it not for the the men and women who have lived, fought, and died under torturous conditions so that we may never have to endure such fears, or lose the freedoms granted to us in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Let us thank God for this wonderful country and for the veterans who, even today,  are fighting and dying so that we can live in peace and security.
