Community Update
Update: I contacted CVS headquarters and they stated that scanning ID's is an IRS regulation, they have to follow it. However, they could not provide me with the code number or specific policy that states this. Furthermore, the local post office does not follow this practice, and when questioned about the policy, they stated that they were not aware of such a policy; and if it existed, they would have to follow it. I also contacted the IRS as well, and they also stated that they were not aware of such a policy. So why is CVS telling customers they are required to scan ID's under federal law and collecting customers personal information?
