This morning, I visited the CVS in Brookville IN to purchase a money order. However, when I requested the money order the cashier asked me for my drivers license. I asked why she needed to see my drivers license and she stated that it was store policy that when customers purchase money orders, their drivers license must be scanned in order to keep track of people buying money orders. I refused and purchased the money order else where. I believe CVS has instituted a policy that 1) discriminates against the poor and disenfranchised that are unable to obtain drivers licenses; and 2) is an invasion of privacy. I was informed by the employee that showing an ID was not sufficient, they must scan my ID in order to keep track of money orders I personally purchase. CVS needs to end this current practice and respect the rights and privacy of their customers.
