Up To You: Original Location Of Pierannunzi Shoe Rebuilding

If it were up to you, what would you like to see happen to the property once home to this shoe repair shop?

Woonsocket has more than its fair share of vacant buildings and empty properties. Some have been empty for years while others see a rotating crop of businesses. If it were up to you, what would you like to see happen to these spaces?

It was once a place to have your shoes touched up, re-soled or repaired at the corner of Front Street and Court Street, near Court Square.

Now the spot is vacant, after the owner, Norman Decelles moved Pierannunzi Shoe Rebuilding to 534 Elm St. because the building was scheduled to be demolished.

What do you think would fit best for whatever replaces this building? A gift shop?  A restaurant? What would you like to see?

Tear it down, nothing will succeed there.Depressionary Woonsocket and lack of parking will kill anything that stars up there.

We don't have enough social service agencies. Perhaps we could reach out to bring in more freebies for the freeloaders. Maybe an Obama phone office?

tear down another building. Thats the way to go. I love seeing another filthy vacant area. The owner might not have to tear it down if he could afford tyou dont need to have parking right at some buildings. Another article a lady wanted a small area with a window and a sink, to do her art work. Do you think that mr. matt the moran wojeck could put these two things together? NO he's too stupid, and he might even have to work for his pay.

Tearing down buildings absolutely shows the decline of a city. Not my opinion, FACT !!! Studies show that incorporating old with new works. We dont have anyone in this city with enough brains thinking on how to actually solve issues. I guess I might be the only one. Therefore since im the oddball I should be bullied.

We should try a gallery...art always works for revitalization. That little corner could become a hip spot if planned correctly. I think they already have an African Restaurant (pretty unique) and a hip clothing store.

A bed and breakfast for all the tourists visiting downtown?

That would be a good place to get free Obama Phones.

I know someone with an Obama phone. she has been working in a low paying job (one step above minimum wage) in the city for over 12 years. She has to pay 60$ a week for benefits. She was given an Obama phone. It only has 250 free minutes for the month. She pays taxes in the city, she volunteers , and she gives at church. I am glad she has a bit of security (because of the phone) coming home on the bus at night.

I'll agree with you on this one EF,it's chump change compared with the trillions of dollars pumped into the system to keep Too Big to Fail banks afloat.Anyway, maybe we'll be calling them Romney phones come November.

I'll also agree with you on this one EF. That person deserves to be helped. Don't think anyone would have a problem with anyone who tries. Please tell your friend that she can hold her head up high, being proud, knowing she has respect for herself.
