Fontaine Welcomes Major League Roast Beef & Wings to City

Mayor Fontaine visited Major League Roast Beef & Wings Thursday at noon, presenting co-owner Rebecca Gianakis with a framed photograph of Woonsocket's Lem Clabine with fellow baseball great Jackie Robinson.

Fontaine offered the gift as an official welcome of the business, owned by Rebecca and Nicholas Gianakis, to the city. The shop serves sandwiches, wings and various other edibles from their Woonsocket and Auburn, MA, locations. The Woonsocket location, open since April, is in the spot once occupied by Tim Horton's coffee, 68 Cumberland St.

Though the couple has operated their shop in Auburn, just outside Worcester, MA, for some time, this is their first official welcome from a local mayor. Rebecca said the gift is also hit the mark. "My husband is going to be really excited about this," she said, "This is much better than a plaque. I love it."
