Firefighters Hang 'Thank-You' Banner at Ocean State Job Lot

RI Association of Fire Chiefs thank customers for sending vets to DC.

Acting Fire Chief Timothy Walsh and four firefighters spent about 20 minutes Friday morning hanging a banner thanking Job Lot customers for their help sending veterans to the WWII Memorial in Washington DC.

Walsh and the firefighters met briefly with Bert Hebert, manager of Job Lot's Diamond Hill Road store, before fastening the banner under Job Lot's logo.

The RI Association of Fire Chiefs have been coordinating the veteran trips to the memorial, dubbed "Honor Flights" since last November. The Sept. 28 trip sent 800 veterans from New England, including 128 from Rhode Island, some of them Woonsocket veterans, to the memorial.

The trips, including the $250,000 Sept. 28 journey, were funded through the donations of Job Lot customers.
