Two local businesses will be visited by a cash mob including members of the Blackstone Valley Independent Business Alliance and the Northern RI Chamber of Commerce.

The latest Cash Mob, a now-regular activity of two Northern RI business organizations, has set its sights on two undisclosed North Smithfield businesses for Sept. 25.

The Cash Mobs, part of a cooperative effort by the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce (Serving communities from Smithfield to Woonsocket) and the Blackstone Valley Independent Business Alliance, gathers a large group of people who agree to spend $20 at each venue.

The mob visits the selected businesses and make purchases of their choosing.

The two mystery businesses to be mobbed will be announced promptly at 6:15 p.m. at the parking lot in front of North Smithfield Urgent Care, 594 Great Road in North Smithfield. Mobbers should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the announcement of the mystery locations to be mobbed.

“This is a great way to do our part to help stimulate the local economy,” said John Gregory, President and CEO of the Northern RI Chamber. Jeanne Budnick, BVIBA President and co-owner of Pepin Lumber in Woonsocket, added, “It’s a lot of fun too.”
