$100,000 Texaco Country Showdown Returns To Woonsocket

Take your talent to Nashville!

For thirty years the Texaco Country Showdown has been searching for the most promising country music talent in America to afford them a chance to launch their professional careers.  This is the largest competition of its kind and it's headed our way.

Each spring, local competitions are held all over the country and are sponsored by a local radio station.   For the second year, Woonsocket’s , is the only station in Rhode Island to sponsor one of these local competitions.  From these competitions, a winner is chosen to advance to the respective state competition where he or she will compete for a $1,000 prize, the State title and an opportunity to advance to one of five Regional Finals which is the last step to the prestigious National Final held in Nashville, Tennessee at the historic Ryman Auditorium where the finalists compete for the National Title and $100,000.  To ensure fairness, a uniform judging system is used at all levels of competition.

There are a few names that you may recognize who have won past local, state and regional competitions.  The who’s who past winners include Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Martina McBride, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sara Evans, and Miranda Lambert.

The 30th annual Texaco Country Showdown competition will return to Woonsocket on July 23 at 4 p.m. and will be presented at the .  Tickets to the show are $10 general admission and free for St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center Member’s.  The proceeds from the show will benefit the Center.
