What Will Woonsocket's 125th Centerpiece Be?

A new art installation will soon take shape at Monument Square, but the anniversary co-chair is keeping its identity a secret.

Starting next week, a Boston firm is expected to begin work on a new art installation at Monument Square as part of Woonsocket's 125th anniversary — but the result is being kept a secret.

Anniversary Committee Co-Chairman Albert Beauparlant recently told the Valley Breeze that he thought up the concept for the piece while walking along Main Street at night.

While Beauparlant wouldn't say what the structure will be, he did offer some tantalizing clues: it'll be 50 ft. wide, take 15 days to complete, and honor a famous monument about 3,500 mi. from Woonsocket. It's also meant to reflect the character of the city and its people, and will include a "Wall of Fame" to honor notable Woonsocket residents.

Tell Us: What do you think the new art piece will be?
