Wednesday Five: Gear for Grades, Movie Friday, Minimum Wage, Nixle, Blog

Gear for Grades Between now and Aug. 9, you can help children gear up for a year of learning by donating the following items at any Citizens Bank branch: Child-Safe Scissors, Pencils/Pens, Erasers, Pocket Folders, Spiral Notebooks, Crayons, Washable Markers, Rulers, Glue Sticks, Colored Pencils, Pencil Boxes, and Index Cards.

Movies in the Park - Movies in the Parks returns Friday Nights in July, starting with The Goonies July 12 at River Island Park at dusk.  
Minimum wage - Today marks the fourth year the national minimum wage has remained static at $7.25. Today, people are expected to gather across the US to support efforts to raise the minimum wage. In Massachusetts cities, they'll ask for laws that require employers to offer earned sick time, too. Rallies are planned in Boston, Brockton, Lynn, Salem, Springfield, Fall River, New Bedford, Lawrence and Worcester. Nothing's scheduled in RI. 

Nixle - The Woonsocket Police and Fire Department want to send a reminder about Nixle.  They encourage all residents and interested parties to sign up for Nixle’s OPT IN notification alerts.  You will be able to choose what messages you want to be informed of including emergency alerts, public safety updates, or community event information. You can receive Nixle messages on your cell phone, tablet, or other device.
