Fourth of July Five: Happy Birthday, Movies, Lilo Lost, Trash Pickup

Happy Fourth! - As Americans celebrate the nation's birth and independence, the Statue of Liberty, the iconic symbol of hope, freedom and opportunity, reopens today after years of repair of damage suffered from Hurricane Sandy. Check out the National Parks Service website for details on arranging your own visit to the made-over Lady Liberty.

Movies in the Park - 
Movies in the Parks returns Friday Nights in July, starting with Yogi Bear tomorrow night at River Island Park at dusk. Woonsocket Parks & Recreation is offering FREE Shuttle Service 
to the movies and back for residents of  Kennedy Manor, Crepeau Court, St. Germain and Park View. Drop-off service will also be provided to residents of Hanora Lippett assisted living, who usually walk to the event. 

On Friday, opening night, free Movie Night T-shirts will be given to the first 60 kids.  

River Island Park Pick up times: 
Crepeau Court -  7 p.m.
Kennedy Manor - 7:10 p.m.
Park View - 7:20 p.m.
St. Germain - 7:30 p.m.

Protect your pets - More pets go missing on July 4 than any other day of the year, according to Petfinder.com Check out their tips to keep your pet safe. Also, the ASPCA has listed a number of general Fourth of July pet safety tips. Some of their advice included keeping your pet on their normal diet, and keeping them away from adult beverages, which can make them intoxicated, weak and possibly put them in a coma.

Rubbish, Recycling Schedule - The Woonsocket Material Recycle Facility located at 943 River St., Woonsocket will be closed Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Residents on the following collection days will be delayed by one day: Thursday and Friday.

Lost dog - Lilo (See photo) went missing on Tuesday in the area of Verdun Street and Mount St. Charles Street. The dog's family would appreciate any information you might have on the pooch's whereabouts. Call 401-649-5804 or 401-516-7936.
