Raimondo Visits Northern Rhode Island

Hears from nonprofit leaders in Woonsocket and toured the Meadows Independent Living community in North Smithfield

Providence, R.I. –Treasurer Gina M. Raimondo recently discussed financial empowerment with nonprofit leaders in Woonsocket and met with the residents at the Meadows Independent Living community in North Smithfield. 

Raimondo led a roundtable discussion with representatives from local nonprofit organizations to hear about their financial education efforts and to share what Treasury is doing to financially empower Rhode Islanders.

“Collaboration and communication between Treasury and Rhode Island’s nonprofit organizations is key,” said Raimondo. “Together, we can ensure the members of our community have the tools they need to make smart financial decisions.”

The nonprofits present at the discussion included Local Initiatives Support Coalition, Family Resource Community Action (FRCA), RiverzEdge Arts Project, NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley and Connecting for Children and Families (CCF). As part of the Treasurer’s visit, she also toured CCF & FRCA.

While in Northern Rhode Island, Raimondo stopped by the Meadows Independent Living community in North Smithfield to meet the residents and introduce them to Treasury’s Unclaimed Property and Financial Coaching Corps programs as part of Treasury’s Smart Money Tour.
