Elizabeth Goodson Joins Faculty at Dayspring Christian Academy

Dayspring Christian Academy of Attleboro welcomed a new faculty member in September when it opened its doors for the first time during the 2013-14 academic year.

Elizabeth Goodson of Woonsocket joined the DCA faculty this year as a Grade 5 teacher. The mother of two sons – Jude (4) and Jace (2) – she brings impressive credentials and experience to the school.

Goodson earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla., and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She was a Grade 3 teacher at Eagle Lake (Fla.) Elementary School for the past six years prior to relocating in New England.

“My husband’s (Khane) job changed and we moved to Rhode Island,” Goodson said. “I enrolled my son, Jude, in the preschool program at Dayspring, discovered they had an opening for a teacher, and they hired me.”

The Goodsons are members of the First Assembly of God Church in Woonsocket and deeply religious, which made her transition to teaching in a private school that much smoother.

“I loved teaching at Eagle Rock, but I enjoy teaching at Dayspring because we have the freedom to discuss religion openly,” Goodson said. “You’re not supposed to do that in public schools.”

After teaching at Dayspring for a month, Goodson said the school has made a very positive impression on her.

“Dayspring is a very friendly, upbeat and pleasant place to teach,” she said. “Most importantly, the kids work hard here.”
