Blackstone Area Prevention Coalition's Hosting Town Hall Meeting on Prescription Drug Abuse and Overdose Prevention

On Tuesday, November 12, 2013, the Woonsocket, Cumberland, Lincoln and N. Smithfield Prevention Coalitions will be holding a Town Hall Meeting from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Harris Hall of City Hall in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.  At that time, the WPC will be providing information and an open discussion on current issues regarding community prevention strategies that address Prescription Drug Abuse and Overdose Prevention. Dr. James McDonald, MD, MPH, Chief Administrative Officer from the Department of Health will be a keynote speaker with a representative from the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals speaking, as well as a moderated panel discussion.

As a leader in the prevention field in Rhode Island, the WPC is an effective, organized coalition of community leaders with a clear and defined mission:  “to develop, implement and advocate for effective, community-based prevention initiatives.”  Our vision includes the development of a safe and drug-free community for all residents.

At this time, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend this event.  The WPC would be honored if you would join us in a discussion about the topic of Prescription Drug Abuse in our community, as well as strategies for protecting and supporting the efforts of our community(ies) in making our neighborhoods safe, healthy and drug-free, especially for our youth.
