Uniforms Today, Aid South Main Street Families, Help the Homeless

Uniform Drive today - On Sept. 25, from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m., Pothier School will be collecting gently used, clean, stain and tear-free uniform shirts and pants. This includes maroon, grey and black shirts with or without logos, and tan or black uniform skirts, dress and pants. Pants can include athletic pants without the bottom elastics, or dress pants. For each uniform item you bring in, you will receive a ticket. 

On Thursday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., you will be able to bring the tickets back and trade them in for a new size of gently used uniform OR purchase a NEW uniform shirt at a 30 percent discount. Volunteers are needed for both days, and setup leading up to them.

Globe Aids Local Family -  Two Globe Park families have suffered a devastating loss this weekend in the house fire on South Main Street. In order to assist them in beginning to rebuild their lives, the school will hold a dress down day this Friday. A donation of $1 (or more) is requested for participation.

Items that are needed for South Main Street fire victims at this point are ...
Toiletries, bathing supplies, toothbrushes, towels, deoderant, shaving supplies etc
Giftcards, Stop & Shop, Walmart, Target, Sears, etc., unscented baby wipes,
size 4 diapers,  girl 18-month to 2 year-old clothes, size 6 shoes.

One of the families, the Tuckers, have an online donation page at Gofundme.com. You can donate to them directly there.

Homeless Fundraiser Thursday - Family Resource's presents "25th Anniversary Event" , a fundraiser to benefit the Woonsocket Homeless Shelter. The event will feature Music by Mr. Whodo- a great local folk band as well as hot & cold appetizers. Event is from 5:30-7:30, doors open at 5 p.m.

Adopt-A-Family Signups - Application sessions are held at Family Resources Community Action, 55 Main St.,  Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30 pm, Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 am, and Thursdays from 4-7 pm. 

Low-income families with children born between Jan. 1, 2001 and time of application who live in Woonsocket are invited to apply.  Applications are not accepted from families living outside of Woonsocket.
