Recycling, Rubbish Update for the Holidays, Cookie Walk Saturday

Recyclin', Rubbish In the observance of Christmas the Woonsocket Material Recycle Facility will be closedTuesday December 24 and Wednesday December 25.

Tuesday Dec. 24 will be a normal collection day for trash and recycling.
Wednesday Dec. 25 to Friday December 27 will be delayed by one day.

Residents are reminded that holiday wrapping paper is recyclable. Excess recyclables including cardboard and paper can be brought to the Woonsocket Material Recycle Facility, free of charge, located at 943 River Street (normal hours are Monday to Friday  7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.).
Any excess waste or overloaded trash carts will not be collected.

Cookie Walk - Do you like cookies? If so, you're in luck - St. Michael's Church at 74 Harris Ave. is holding their annual Cookie Walk this Saturday from 9 a.m. till noon.  They've got 50 kinds of cookies. Cookies are $8.50 per pound. For pre-orders of 5 pounds or more, call 765-1410 o 762-3939.

Youth Basketball - Students ages 7- 12 years old are invited to participate in this year’s recreational basketball league, sposored by Parks & Recreation, 1117 River St. Participation is $15. 

Beginner & Advanced Groups signups run though Friday Dec. 20, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring check, money order or exact change only. You Must bring a birth certificate and proof of residency. Late signups are accepted through the first day of practices on  Jan. 4.
  
Practices & Games on Saturday’s 9am – 1pm (Weeknight Practices to be announced) Season Starts Saturday, Jan. 4- March 15

Old Street Signs Sold to aid Milk Fund - Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt has announced that the City of Woonsocket will be selling the old green and white city street signs to anyone interested for $10 per sign with the proceeds to benefit the Milk Fund. The complete list of street names will be posted on the city’s websitewww.ci.woonsocket.ri.us and will be available for sale in Harris Hall at City Hall weekdays starting from Dec 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. City Hall will be closed Dec. 24 through Dec. 31.

The signs are a nostalgic gift for anyone’s home, office or place of business, and the proceeds will help a very worthy charity.

Giving Tree 
- To help make the holidays brighter for children in need, BankRI has partnered with 12 local non-profits to provide gifts for the less fortunate this holiday season. Gifts collected at BankRI’s Woonsocket branch Giving Tree at 1175 Cumberland Hill Road will help Connecting for Children & Families.

YWCA Mitten Tree - YWCA RI at 514 Blackstone St. is displaying a Mitten Tree from now until Jan. 10.  A Mitten Tree holds mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, socks and other warm clothing on its branches, typically for children. Anyone in need of these items is welcome to them. 

All donations are warmly welcomed. Please leave labels/tags on for
information regarding clothing materials and sizes. To learn more,
