Parking ban - The City of Woonsocket issued a parking ban yesterday at 5 p.m. that will last until today at 5 p.m., to keep roads free of cars so the DPW can clear them of snow.

Parking is prohibited on all streets. Any vehicles left on the road will be towed and or/ticketed.

No pickup today - Due to the forecasted snowstorm, pickup of trash and recycling on Wednesday Jan. 22 (Tuesday’s route due to the holiday delay) has been cancelled.

We ask that all collection carts (City serviced and privately serviced) be brought back into the property and placed back out on the appropriate collection day.

Please be patient as we attempt to collect all waste within a timely matter. Refer to the City of Woonsocket Solid Waste Division web site for the storm related collection schedule for City serviced carts.

Questions can be directed to the Solid Waste Division at (401) 767-8880.

Trash delay - Due to the short holiday week, On Monday Jan. 20 in the observance of Martin Luther King Day; rubbish and recycling pick-up for the week of January 20 to January 24 will be delayed by one day.

Please DO NOT place plastic bags in the recycle carts. Those bags can be returned to many big-box retailers or to the Woonsocket Recycle Facility (943 River Street) for proper recycling.

Extra recycling may also be brought to the Woonsocket Recycle Facility located at 943 River St.

Ghost Army - Now through Jan. 31, the Museum of Work & Culture, in conjunction with the BVTC, present a special Ghost Army Exhibit, at the Museum, located at Market Square in Woonsocket. See special interpretive display telling true story of city's connection to a secret World War II mission. Information at Rhode Island Historical Society website.
