Monday Essentials: Council, Election, Geek Week, Adopt a Family

Council - The Woonsocket City Council meets tonight, 7 p.m., in Harris Hall at City Hall, 169 Main St. On their agenda, among other things, are a resolution to allow Cox Communications to install underground conduit on Front St., the cancelation of about $7,000 in property taxes, and a request for the NRICA to use River Island Park for its French Heritage Festival Sept. 6, 2014.

Election - There are election races for seven City Council seats and the Mayor's office Tuesday. Polls open at 7 a.m. and remain open till 8 p.m. Don't forget to exercise your right to vote.

Geek Week - Nov. 4-9 is Geek the Library week at the Woonsocket Library. They'll host a dollar-a-bag book sale in the Children's program room with many adult books, hardcover and paperback fiction and non-fiction. They'll have kids and teens books, too. Bring in a supermarket sized bag and fill it up for just a dollar. Proceeds go to the Friends of the Library to support many of the programs you enjoy here at this library.

There is a lot going on for Geek Week. Tell us what you enjoy on the Geek Wall. Members of Live & Learn will display some of their favorite things to do. Kids Klub will have a display in the children's room of what they enjoy. What do you Geek at the library? How does the library feed your passions (aka Geek).
