Monday Essentials: A Peek Ahead at Woonsocket Events

FRCA Fundraiser - Family Resources Community Action is hosting a music & food event on Thursday Sept. 26, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Ciro’s Tavern on Cherry, 42 Cherry Street, Woonsocket. Music is provided by acclaimed folk band Mr. Whodo. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Arc de Triomphe - Traffic along the stretch of N. Main Street going through Monument Square is blocked again this morning as construction on the 1/3 scale replica of the Parisian artifact. The work will continue Saturday, when the framing is expected to be finished. During construction, the road will be open during the evenings. The arc gets its mural - laden fabric walls the week of Aug. 29, in time for the Block Party. 

Classic cars - Show up at Patriot's Diner, 65 Founders Dr., Monday at 5 p.m. for Classic Car Cruise Night. Take a trip down Memory Lane at a nostalgic '50s diner with vintage cars.

In Case You Missed It: There are two remaining fundraisers leading up to the city's 125th birthday block party Aug. 29: 

  • Aug. 20: Jazz Up Woonsocket at Chan's (Chinese food and jazz music)
  • Aug. 22: Social Ocean Luau at Christopher's Restaurant (Outdoor pig roast and island party)
Craft Class at Library - Make free crafts on Fridays, 1-2 p.m. at Woonsocket Harris Public Library. This program is great for kids aged 10 & up. Aug. 22 and 23. A different craft each day may include duct tape arts, beading, bracelet making and more. contact Teen Desk at 767-4132
