Grand Marshal Received, Landmark Your Voice, Charity Dinner

Autumnfest Grand Marshal Reception - Dave Richards, radio station WOON-1240 owner, grand marshal for the 2013 Autumnfest, will be the guest of honor during tonight's reception, 6 p.m., at St. Ann's Arts & Cultural Center on Cumberland Street. The Valley Breeze reports tickets for the event, including a buffet and brief speeches, will be sold at the door for $15. 

Richards will also lead the Monday, Oct. 14 Columbus Day parade along Diamond Hill Road.

- The informational meeting about Prime Healthcare's bid to buy Landmark Medical Center is over, but if you weren't able to put in your two cents Monday at the High School, there's still time to make yourself heard.

Fire victims fundraiser Thursday - On Thursday Oct. 3, an All-You-Can-Eat Clam Cakes and Chowder Dinner will be held at WMS-Hamlet Building from 4 - 8 p.m. to benefit the families of the recent house fire on South Main Street. Tickets are $10 and are available at Woonsocket Middle School @ Hamlet from Trish L'Esperance or at the Woonsocket High School from Jennifer Pacelli. Entertainment will be provided by John Levreault of Select Sound DJ Services.

Yard waste pickup - Yard waste (grass clippings, small branches, weeds, etc.) for 1-3 unit properties resumes this week, continuing through Friday Dec. 6. Place yard waste in compost bags or barrels (with lids) clearly marked “yard waste” and leave them curbside on your collection day by 7 am. (Plastic bags containing yard waste will not be collected).  Yard waste cannot and must not contain any trash.

Small branches must be cut into lengths not longer than 4’ and tied into bundles using a natural fiber rope/twine. Any bag or barrel or bundle cannot weigh more than 50 pounds.
