Ghost Army Thursday, Beer & Dynamite Friday, Geek Out

Ghost Army Movie - On Nov. 7, come to Stadium Theater for a history lesson. The Museum of Work and Culture Preservation Foundation will be screening 'Ghost Army' which explores Woonsocket's role in World War II.

Beer & Dynamite A Beer & Dynamite Dinner hosted by Chapter Martel #2 (USJB) will be held on Friday, Nov. 8 at the CYO Center from 4:30 – 7:30 pm. All profits will go to the WHS Music Boosters to help with the cost of this year’s trip. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children12 and under.   

Geek Week
 - Nov. 4-9 is Geek the Library week at the Woonsocket Library. They'll host a dollar-a-bag book sale in the Children's program room with many adult books, hardcover and paperback fiction and non-fiction. They'll have kids and teens books, too. Bring in a supermarket sized bag and fill it up for just a dollar. Proceeds go to the Friends of the Library to support many of the programs you enjoy here at this library. 

There is a lot going on for Geek Week. Tell us what you enjoy on the Geek Wall. Members of Live & Learn will display some of their favorite things to do. Kids Klub will have a display in the children's room of what they enjoy. What do you Geek at the library? How does the library feed your passions (aka Geek).

Adopt-A-Family Signups - Application sessions are held at Family Resources Community Action, 55 Main St.,  Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30 pm, Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 am, and Thursdays from 4-7 pm. 

Low-income families with children born between Jan. 1, 2001 and time of application who live in Woonsocket are invited to apply.  Applications are not accepted from families living outside of Woonsocket. 

Copies of applications are available at FRCA’s reception desk at 245 Main Street or at 55 Main Street. The application period for the Adopt-A-Family program ends Nov. 15. Late applications cannot be accepted.

Candy trade - Candied out yet? - Donate your Halloween Candy to any Children’s Workshop locations, and receive a free children's book! All of the candy that they collect will be shipped to the troops serving overseas via Operation Gratitude.
You must bring in at least 30 pieces of candy to swap for a book. Of course, we appreciate the donation, even if you don't want a book. They have a location at  25 Blackstone Valley Place Lincoln, RI.
