Fire Safety Night, Forums, Adopt a Family, Ghost Army

Fire Safety tonight - From 4 to 7 p.m., the fire station on Cumberland Hill Road will be teaming up with papa Gino's to educate the public on fire safety awareness as well as providing free pizza!

Trash Pickup Delay -  Due to the short Columbus Day holiday week, trash and recycling collection is delayed by one day for the week. 

Candidates Forums - 
Mywoonsocket.com has posted a schedule of candidates forums.  
The Black Initiatives Group (B.I.G.), a community group in Woonsocket, has planned a forum for the Mayoral (Friday, October 18) debate, 7 p.m. at St. James Baptist Church, 340 South Main St., Woonsocket.  

The forum is open to the public. B.I.G. asks voters to send all questions they would like to hear the candidates answer, to this email address, blackinitiativesgroup@gmail.com.

Adopt-A-Family Signups - Application sessions are held at Family Resources Community Action, 55 Main St.,  Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30 pm, Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 am, and Thursdays from 4-7 pm. 

Low-income families with children born between Jan. 1, 2001 and time of application who live in Woonsocket are invited to apply.  Applications are not accepted from families living outside of Woonsocket. 

Copies of applications are available at FRCA’s reception desk at 245 Main Street or at 55 Main Street. The application period for the Adopt-A-Family program ends Nov. 15. Late applications cannot be accepted.

Ghost Army Movie On Nov. 7 come to Stadium Theater for a history lesson. The Museum of Work and Culture Preservation Foundation will be screening 'Ghost Army' which explores Woonsocket's role in World War II.
