Finally Friday Five: Movies in the Park, Car Tax Tomorrow, Budget Commission Monday

Movies in the Park - 
Movies in the Parks returns tonight for its final evening, featuring Wreck it Ralph. All proceeds from the concession stand sales go directly back to Woonsocket Parks & Recreation and future events.

CCF Culinary Arts Class - Connecting for Children & Families in Partnership with Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center (WACTC) offers adults a Culinary Arts Training Program: 12 week s of classroom instruction and learn about different jobs in food services.

Motor Vehicle Taxes Due Saturday - The motor vehicle excise and tangible personal property bills were mailed on July 11 and are due on July 26.  The real property bills were mailed July 15 and are due on Aug. 9. 
  • First two weeks: job readiness classes are Monday - Friday 9:30-2:30 p.m.
  • 10 weeks of classroom instruction 3- evenings a week 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Topics will include Food Preparation and Sanitation Methods, Knife Skills, Baking, Cooking, Recipe design, Hospitality and more.
The program is open, free, to people 18 or older who are unemployed or under-employed. Call 401-766-3384 to enroll for one of the information sessions July 25, 30 and Aug. 1, 6, 8, 13, and 15.  

Budget Commission - The next meeting of the Woonsocket Budget Commission is Monday, July 29. An agenda for this meeting has not yet been posted, but meetings are typically held at 4 p.m. in City Hall, 169 Main Street, third floor.

Nixle - The Woonsocket Police and Fire Department want to send a reminder about Nixle.  They encourage all residents and interested parties to sign up for Nixle’s OPT IN notification alerts.  You will be able to choose what messages you want to be informed of including emergency alerts, public safety updates, or community event information. You can receive Nixle messages on your cell phone, tablet, or other device.
