Finally Friday Five: Council Monday, Crafts Today, Food Bank, Race

Council Monday - The Woonsocket City Council will hold a special meeting Monday, Aug. 26 at City Hall to discuss a request by Blake's Pub and Pizzeria at 1077 Park Ave. for a Class BV license with a 2 a.m. closing, and extension to an outside deck through Nov. 15. (See attached pdf.)

They will also consider Michael Caswell's application for a private detective license. After, they'll hold work sessions on Water Division policies, Building Inspection procedures, and and a Job Creation Program.

Craft Class at Library - Make free crafts on Fridays, 1-2 p.m. at Woonsocket Harris Public Library. This program is great for kids aged 10 & up on Aug. 23. A different craft each day may include duct tape arts, beading, bracelet making and more. contact Teen Desk at 767-4132.
 
Food Bank Needs Help - The St. James Episcopal Church's Prescott Beach Food Bank  at 24 Hamlet Ave. is in need of bars of soap, as well as any canned or boxed food items you can donate. Find a good sale or thin out your cupboard and help them stock up. Call the church at 401-762-2222 or bring items to the Food Bank during their hours Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m.

B'nai Israel Open House - On Sunday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m.-noon, Congregation B'nai Israel will be holding an Open House for interested families and individuals. Congregation B'nai Israel serves the area's Jewish community with a variety of religious, cultural, and social activities. Anyone interested in Hebrew School, Children's programming, Senior Programming, High Holiday services, or connecting with their local Jewish community are invited. Race Against Racism volunteers sought 
- Volunteers are needed for YWCA Race Against Racism at Autumnfest. Many opportunities are available to support the 5K run/walk on Oct. 13 from 7 to 11 a.m.

Volunteers are needed in the following areas: race set up, registration, water station, on course guide, finish line, and clean up.  A volunteer form is available on the Race Against Racism website
