Family resource guide - There's a new guide to resources for children & families in Woonsocket, created by Nancy Wilson (2013 Woonsocket Parent Leadership Training Institute graduate). Find info & links to play groups, literacy resources, health centers, afterschool programs, and more.

Winter Farmer's Market - This winter, Thundermist and Farm Fresh RI will partner to expand the Woonsocket Farmers Market into the winter, in the first-floor lobby of Thundermist Health Center, 450 Clinton St., starting Feb. 5th.

Shoppers can expect fresh potatoes, onions, squash, apples, carrots, and greens from local farmers. The market will also offer peppers, tomatoes, green beans, fruits, and more.

The market accepts SNAP, cash, debit, and credit.

Trash delay
 - Due to the short holiday week, and Tuesday's snowstorm last week, trash and recycling collection Monday, Jan. 27 through Friday, Jan. 31  will be delayed by one day.

Officials ask that all collection carts (City serviced and privately serviced) be brought back into the property and placed back out on the appropriate collection day.

Questions can be directed to the Solid Waste Division at (401) 767-8880.

Nixle - If you haven't already, don't forget to sign up for the city's alert system through the Woonsocket Police Department on Nixle, which sends word of parking bans and traffic advisories straight to smart phones and computers.

Ghost Army - Now through Friday, the Museum of Work & Culture, in conjunction with the BVTC, presents a special Ghost Army Exhibit, at the Museum, located at Market Square in Woonsocket. See a special interpretive display telling true story of city's connection to a secret World War II mission. Information at Rhode Island Historical Society website.
