Rubbish & Recycling, Mitten Tree

Recyclin', Rubbish In the observance of Christmas, trash and recycling will be delayed one day through the balance of the week, till Dec. 27. 

Residents are reminded that holiday wrapping paper is recyclable. Excess recyclables including cardboard and paper can be brought to the Woonsocket Material Recycle Facility, free of charge, located at 943 River Street (normal hours are Monday to Friday  7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.).
Any excess waste or overloaded trash carts will not be collected.

Special Election - There's a Special Election brewing to fill the Dist. 49 seat vacated by new Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. Check out our story on the four candidates. Though the special election is scheduled for Feb. 25, all four declared candidates are Democrats, leaving the Jan. 21 winner unopposed for the seat.

 
Old Street Signs Sold to aid Milk Fund
 - Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt has announced that the City of Woonsocket will be selling the old green and white city street signs to anyone interested for $10 per sign with the proceeds to benefit the Milk Fund. The complete list of street names will be posted on the city’s websitewww.ci.woonsocket.ri.us and will be available for sale in Harris Hall at City Hall weekdays starting from Dec 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. City Hall will be closed Dec. 24 through Dec. 25.

The signs are a nostalgic gift for anyone’s home, office or place of business, and the proceeds will help a very worthy charity.

YWCA Mitten Tree - YWCA RI at 514 Blackstone St. is displaying a Mitten Tree from now until Jan. 10.  A Mitten Tree holds mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, socks and other warm clothing on its branches, typically for children. Anyone in need of these items is welcome to them. 

All donations are warmly welcomed. Please leave labels/tags on for
