Inauguration tonight - The City's 2013 Inauguration of Mayor Elect Lisa Baldelli-Hunt takes place at Stadium Theater, 28 Monument Square, tonight, 8 p.m.
The City Council will also vote on the new mayor's appointed directors, and elect a new Council President and Vice President. Stadium's capacity outstrips that of the Council's usual digs in Harris Hall at City Hall, so there'll be plenty of room.
Yard Waste Pickup Ends - Curbside pick-up of yard waste (grass clippings, small branches, weeds, etc.) will END on your trash/recycling curbside collection day this week. Curbside yard waste collection will resume in April
2014.
The yard waste drop-off site in Blackstone, MA, off Canal Street (North Smithfield) will close for the season on Saturday, Dec. 7. The site will re-open in April 2014. It is illegal to throw yard waste in the household waste
collection carts. Questions can be directed to the Solid Waste Division at (401) 767-8880.
Help Out - If you've got food or money to spare, a few local organizations could use your assistance helping out Woonsocket's needy this year.
Toys for Tots at Globe - Globe Park School's student senate/PTA is collecting new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots this year through Dec. 13. Donations can be left in the bin at the school's front office, 192 Avenue A.
Centennial celebration. Revel in the season Friday after 2 p.m. at The Villa at Saint Antoine Courtyard, 400 Mendon Road, North Smithfield as you stroll through the decked-out halls of the Villa at Saint Antoine. More than 30 beautifully decorated Christmas trees will be on display inside a heated tent. Sip on the Villa’s special hot cocoa, and awe at the magnificent showcase of Christmas trees donated and decorated by community organizations, local businesses, families and friends.
