May 13 is Mothers Day, in case you were unaware. If that's news to you, there's still some time to buy a nice arrangement of flowers, purchase a thoughtful gift or take mom out to brunch. According to history.com, Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the day in 1914. Wilson said the holiday offered a chance to "[publicly express] our love and reverence for the mothers of our country." Procrastinators have six days left to think up what they'll do for their mom, or the mother-figure in their life.
  Time is running out for Non-profit Blackstone Valley organizations to apply to become a Charitable Recipient of the 2012 UniBank Blackstone River Valley Greenway Challenge. Ths year the event, which is sponsored by the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, Inc. will be held Sept. 29. Each year, athletes run (about 5 miles), paddle and bike (15-20 miles) on a new course, through the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. They're due today: Fourth quarter tax payments for 2011 are due and must be received or postmarked by April 16, 2012.  Mail your payment, along with the correct payment stub, in the pre-addressed envelopes to the Tax Collector, City of Woonsocket, PO Box 9731, Providence, RI 02940-9731.  Payments will also be accepted at City Hall between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Visa and Mastercard credit and debit card payments are now accepted by phone, payments online, or at City Hall.
