WWII Memorial Park

It's time Woonsocket take a stand and help Lisa Baldelli-Hunt with her

fight to save OUR park.

Pick up the phone, email or mail the people at DEM and the leaders of our state

and demand they take care of our park like they do the others.

Or,

Take money from the other parks and donate those monies to our park.

Take a stand people!!

Vets, and kids of vets of all wars and branches of the military should care about this - as should the entire community. It really is sad to see the park so neglected.

Hey, folks - First, thanks to Yvette for signing up to blog and talking about this topic that concerns veterans, frustrated officials and residents who'd like to be able to enjoy a restored park.

Second - For anyone who missed the story on the DEM's visit with the Budget Commission on this - have a look at it http://patch.com/A-y835 before you start making calls - it will save everyone some time, I think, and, I hope, hasten a solution.

Are you kidding me Yvette? You decide to blog about a park the State shoulod be maintaining? No kidding they should maintain it. But before they do that they need to properly fund my kids education.Maybe you need to start holding our local reps responsible? Our State Reps put us in this position. They are not fighting for us. All you have to do is look at the state house journals. Wake up Yvette.

Yvette, first, thank you for starting this blog. But, as much as I think the state treats this city differently than other cities and towns with regard to many issues (which is true) and should be maintaining their property (the park), I wish LBH would show as much interest and expend as much blood, sweat and tears on our education department. She was in favor of building the new middle schools but forgot that the school department needs proper funding to be maintained. She has been fighting for this park's renovation but knows it's not worth it unless the state agrees to maintain it. Yvette, the city can't afford to fully pay for a bare bones education for the same kids Lisa claims to be helping by fixing the park. The front of the high school hasn't been maintained for years. The plastic under the mulch has been visible for at least 5 years. The bathrooms are disgusting. Kids who want to learn are being deprived of advanced classes. Due to the lower pay here, we can't keep our best math teachers. If I was Lisa and had the choice of attending a Budget Commission meeting focusing on the park and one that focused on the school's budget which might address the state's education funding formula, I would go with the school's budget.
The park has become Lisa's special local project. But who among our current reps whose combined time at the GA is 14 year are willing to take on the problem of our schools? Sorry, this was off topic.
