UNCASVILLE, CT – The University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team hung with the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes for a half, but a thin bench led to a 69-58 defeat in the second half.
Xavier Munford led the Rams (0-3) with 16 points, and Nikola Malesevic and Andre Malone both had 11 points.
For Ohio State (2-0), Deshaun Thomas played all 40 minutes and led the Buckeyes with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
URI’s Mike Powell played all 40 minutes for the Rams, and only had two turnovers. However, he struggled a bit from the field, and shot just 4-for-12.
The Rams will play the loser of Seton Hall and Washington.
