With spring well underway, it's time to start planning your summer vacation. But with budgets tight for many families, a trip out of town may be out of the question. Don't let that put a crimp in your summer plans.

There are plenty of places to visit right here in Rhode Island, allowing you to plan a vacation right her at home. So where are the best places to visit on your summer stay-cation? We asked Patch readers throughout the state where they most like to visit. After five days of voting, the winners are in. Check out which spots readers think are the best of the best and support your favorite in the comments section below. After visiting your stay-cation destination, upload a photo of your excursion and share with fellow readers.

Northern RI (Woonsocket, Cranston, Johnston, Attleboro-Seekonk): St. Ann Art and Cultural Center, 84 Cumberland St., Woonsocket.

Southern RI (Narragansett-SK, North Kingstown, East Greenwich, Coventry): Narragansett Town Beach, Boston Neck Road, Narragansett.

Aquidneck Island (Newport, Portsmouth, Middletown, Tiverton-Little Compton): Newport Mansions, Bellevue Ave., Newport.

Hi Mike:
We included a few spots from Johnston and Cranston in the list for the poll — seems that the Woonsocket folks turned out in big numbers.
