I felt this in Newport RI--- Goat Island, I live on the top of a round brick building... I could feel the stone ceiling and floors slide out-- in different directions, and everything was shaking--- seconds passed and I thought it was a very strong wind off of the water, when I went to the deck-- the sea was calm and quiet... very odd... wow...

The earthquake was clearly much less exciting than the MHS Homecoming dance! I think I prefer the earthquake!!

What happens to all these new 400 foot commercial wind turbines that weigh 100 tons? Many of the bases of the large turbines are drilled into bedrock . What happens if the foundations crack ?

100 tons....what is the area of the base? There seems to be no correlation between a few yards into bedrock for a turbine and the absolute problem of the thousands of feet into the strata for fracking.....not to mention the chemicals.

Mr. Carson, you kind of answered your own question... if they are drilled into secure bedrock---- If it is truly well installed there is very little chance it will fail-- its supports will hold firm--- much of these structures are designed for high amounts of stress and movement - high winds ect... Cracking of the foundations do happen but they are meant to ride on Rubber bases--- at least they were designed to be installed that way else where-- West Coast, Asia and Europe.... Let's hope---

My better half felt it, I did not. However, when I left the house this morning I could see the aftermath. It must have shaken the trees so hard all the leaves were on the ground!

If you will bookmark http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/ and click on the location of the quake, any quake for that matter, and continue to click on it in the maps that show up until they do not zoom in anymore, at that point you can find all sorts of interesting information. If you click on the map link at that point you find so much info. Click on Google Earth map icon and go look at exactly where the earth moved. Zoom in and you can see it was out in the middle of nowhere. You can also see the historical seismology and magnitude of other quakes and their location including how deep down. Mother Nature at work! There have been many quakes in that area of Maine extending over to NH and down into MA.

Didn't even know it happened. Where I live there are so many trucks going by on the main road AND the road I'm on, I can't tell a truck from an earthquake.

Some one I know felt it in the Eden Park area. I was working in an office building in Cranston so I didn't feel it.
