Police Log: Woonsocket Man Had False Name, Illegal Drugs
Passenger in car had a bench warrant out for his arrest.
Jose Daniel Cales, 27, of 172 Louise St., Apt. 1R, didn't fool Woonsocket Police for very long with his alias, but he did add a charge of obstructing a police officer to his ultimate arrest for possession of illegal drugs and an outstanding bench warrant June 30.
At about 2:27 a.m. that day, officers observed a car with a broken plate light and pulled the vehicle over. The officer spoke with the driver, Michael Bodnar, who stated he and the passenger, Cales, were going home from work.
Cales was slow to respond to questions. The officer asked him for his name, and Cales replied that he was Hiram Rivera, 26. The officer asked him to step out of the car and a search revealed he was carrying a bag of prescription pills he said were not his. The pills were identified as acetominophen/oxycodone, 325 mg/7.5 mg, and acetominophen/750ml/7.5 mg. A check also revealed his true identity.
Cales was charged with possession of illegal drugs and obstructing an officer, and there was also a warrant for his arrest from sixth district court.
