Police Log: Pawtucket Man Arrested For Assault At Party

Attacker leaves man with broken eye socket, nose.

Woonsocket Police arrested Kevin Deoliveira, 23, of Pawtucket last week after he struck Jordan Barr during a party Sept. 3.

Police began their search for Deoliveira Sept. 3 at 8 a.m. when they were called to Landmark Medical Center to speak to an assault victim. When they arrived, officers learned that Barr was being transported to Rhode Island Hospital for serious, though not life threatening, injuries.

The officers followed Barr to Rhode Island Hospital, where they observed he had a substantial bruse and swelling to his eye. Barr informed them that the doctors had told him he would need plastic surgery, and that he had a broken nose and broken eye socket.

Barr said that he was at a friend's house where a group of guests were drinking and playing video games. As he was about to leave at about 4 a.m., Deoliveira, whom he only knew as Kevin, began yelling at him for talking to his children. Barr said he told him he didn't know what Deoliveira was talking about, and the man suddenly pushed him in the chest and hit him in the face. Barr said he didn't know if Deoliveira had used something to hit him with, but he thought he lost consciousness for a moment. He went to a sink to try to wash blood off his face, and Deoliveira followed him saying, "Hit me!," "Hit me!" but he refused and told him to leave.

Upon getting a ride home, Barr's mother was concerned about his injuries and drove him to Landmark, calling Barr's girlfriend, who in turn called police. Barr said he believed Deoliveira worked with the friend throwing the party.

Police arrested Deoliveira Sept. 7 at 6:03 a.m.

William I was wondering the same thing! I know the person that got robbed and then beating and could not understand why there was nothing in the paper about this incident. Maybe getting the word out to could in fact catch the losers who did this...

Yeah, and for them not questioning the victim really puzzles me, so what if he was drunk, he was in a local establishment they gave a liqour license to, It should have been front page news, and they should have went to the hospital with him especially it being a robbery. Woonsockets Finest is not so Fine this time. and I am wondering why.
