Police Log: Man Arrested For Stabbing Friend In The Face With Screwdriver

Michael Christopher Hurst, 33, also charged with violation of no-contact order.

Woonsocket Police responded to the second floor of 198 Park Ave. Aug. 25 at 2:18 a.m. for a report of a disturbance, and were met in the driveway by a woman, Crystal Benoit, 24, of 209 Harrison Ave., Apt. 3, who was crying.

Benoit told police she had been bitten by a dog during an argument between two friends. She had been bitten on the upper thigh and buttocks, according to the report.

Police next spoke with Daniel Ezekiel, who said that he, Benoit and Michael Christopher Hurst, 33, of 607 Mendon Road had been at the American Legion Post on Arnold Street together when they began arguing and were asked to leave.

The three got a ride from a friend to Ezekiel's home at 198 Park Ave. While still in the car, Hurst and Benoit began arguing, with Hurst putting his hands around her throat at one point. Ezekiel ran from the car into his home, slamming the door shut behind him. Hurst came in through the window, he said, removing the screen and crawling through with a screwdriver and a knife. An argument and struggle ensued, with Ezekiel putting Hurst in a headlock as the friend turned intruder tried to stab him with the screwdriver. Despite Ezekiel's efforts, Hurst stabbed him twice in the face with the screwdriver.

At one point during the struggle, Benoit entered the home and intervened to help Hurst, kicking Ezekiel in the back during the struggle. An unspecified number of dogs bit her at this point in the fight, connecting with the aforementioned upper thigh and buttocks. The dogs also attacked Hurst.

Hurst, who had a court order for no contact with Benoit, was arrested for felony assault with a dangerous weapon on Ezekiel, and for violating the no contact order.

Benoit, who had a court order for no contact with Hurst, was also arrested and charged with violating her no-contact order.

Hi, everyone. Please keep your comments to the facts related in the story. This is not the place to accuse someone, even someone arrested for a violent crime, of breaking the law. This report was posted because it is a public record.

I say put the 3 bozo's in a room and let them duke it out. Save the dogs. They are the real victims in all of this for having to witness and get involved in it all. Poor puppies.
