Student faces charges

A 15-year-old student at Woonsocket High School faces charges of disorderly conduct and simple assault and battery after allegedly causing a Thursday afternoon disturbance outside the building.

The student is in a program in which she is not allowed to roam school property unescorted. She allegedly walked out the door after arguing with the program director and using disrespectful language. A short time later, Officer John Raymond, who is assigned to the school, saw the girl in nearby Cass Park arguing with her father, who had been called to the scene by a school administrator. A crowd of a dozen people watched the confrontation, and drivers on Cass Avenue stopped to gawk as well.

When Raymond approached the girl and told her to calm down, she allegedly kicked him in the leg. He then forced her to the ground and handcuffed her. Officers then took the girl to the police station, and later released her to her father's custody.

Bad end to a night out

Patrick C. Gordon, 21, of 5113 Jefferson Place, Bellingham, MA, faces charges of possession of marijuana and driving in possession of a controlled substance. Police arrested him Friday at 1:35 a.m. on Diamond Hill Road near the Cumberland line.

An officer monitoring traffic on Diamond Hill Road stopped Gordon's car because he was allegedly speeding. When the officer approached Gordon's car, he reportedly smelled the odor of burning marijuana, along with perfume someone had sprayed into the air.

The officer told Gordon to step out of the car, and asked if there was any contraband inside. "There's a bud in the front," Gordon replied. The officer allegedly found a plastic bag containing one gram of marijuana in the car's center console.

Police also had a warrant for Gordon's arrest. In addition, he was issued a citation for speeding.

Other arrests

Ryan M. Petitbon, 35, of 185 Dulude Ave., faces a charge of driving after denial, suspension or revocation of a driver's license. Police arrested him on Cumberland Hill Road at 3:34 a.m. Thursday. He was later released.

Justine M. Dunbar, 30, of 38 Blackstone St., faces a charge of driving under the influence of liquor or drugs, first offense. Police arrested her on Clinton Street at 4:02 a.m. Thursday. She was later released.

Neville Lee Geeter, 24, of 24 Pocassett St., Providence, faces a charge of driving after denial, suspension or revocation of a driver's license. Police arrested him on Cumberland Street at 5:04 p.m. Thursday.

Raymond Robert Unwin, 26, of 509 Pond St., faces a charge of violating a restraining order. Police arrested him at a Diamond Hill Road apartment at 9:50 p.m. Thursday.
