Police Log: Assault With A Can of Peanuts
The following arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A city man landed in police custody Monday afternoon after he allegedly beaned a neighbor with a can of peanuts. Kyle Desautels, 21, of 342 Logee St., faces a charge of assault and battery on a person over 60, resulting in bodily injury.
Officers responding to reports of a disturbance at a multi-unit residence on Logee Street found peanuts tossed about the hallway and downstairs resident Gennario Delucca, 63, bleeding from a small cut on his head. Delucca told them he had argued with Desautels, his upstairs neighbor, over loud noise. Desautels allegedly responded by throwing a can of peanuts, striking Delucca in the head.
The officers called an ambulance to take Delucca to Landmark Medical Center. Before he left, he told them he wished to file a complaint against his neighbor.

When the officers went upstairs to speak with Desautels, he admitted tossing a peanut can, but added that it missed Delucca. He asked the officers to review a recording on his camera, which he claimed captured the argument. The officers reportedly were not convinced, and told Desautels there may have been more to the fight than moments he taped. Nonetheless, Desautels insisted his girlfriend take the camera so no one could tamper with his recording.
Officers found the peanut can in the hallway, and seized the item as evidence. They arrested Desautels and bought him to the police station, where he was booked and placed in a cell. He was later released.
