Police Log: Alcohol to Blame for Two Residents Leaving Accident Scenes

The following arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The empty Corona-

Aida Irizarry, 52, of 127 South St. was arrested on Saturday for driving under the influence and two counts of failure in duty on collision. A witness in the area of 34 Transit St. told police that he watched a sedan with heavy front end damage hit a parked car and drive away. A witness to a separate incident of a hit and run in the parking lot of Colortyme on Front St. offered a similar description.

An officer spotted the sedan, reportedly operated by Irizarry, driving 40 miles per hour on Vose Street. When pulled over, Irizarry allegedly told police she had consumed three or four beers and had hit a vehicle, but didn't know where. Irizarry showed signs of intoxication during a field sobriety test and police allegedly found an empty Corona and an unopened six pack in the sedan.

The Scorpion Bowl-

The man allegedly to blame for a three car accident walked away from the scene on Friday racking up a duty on collision charge, along with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Michael Saad, 21, of 38 Winthrop St. was arrested after the Ford Econoline he was operating allegedly collided with a Ford Pickup which in turn struck a GMC Jimmy on Main Street. While officers were investigating the accident a pedestrian reportedly pointed out Saad, who was walking away from the scene.

Saad was allegedly found standing in the YMCA parking lot by the dumpster with blood on his face. The suspect told officers he was coming from Chan's and had drank a Scorpion Bowl. Saad showed signs of intoxication during the field sobriety test and according to reports, was belligerent and offensive to officers during processing.
