One of the guests was Matthew Jones, 38, of 7 Intervale St., Boston, MA, the boyfriend of the woman living at 216 Grove St.

Two people left the apartment and went next door to 212 Grove St., where they told Josef Tallo and Fatima DaSilva about the argument. Tallo and Dasilva went outside to speak to Jones, but as they left their apartment, Jones opened their door and struck each man in the head with a golf club.

Tallo’s dog, a pitbull that was outside in the yard, began attacking Jones, biting his calf, hand, and chin.

Tallo was transported to RI Hospital with serious injuries. DaSilva was transported to Landmark Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Jones was transported to Landmark Medical Center for his injuries as well, after his arrest for two counts of felony assault along with one count of domestic-disorderly conduct due to the assault taking place in the presence of his girlfriend. He was treated and transported to Woonsocket Police Headquarters for processing.

The dog, which Police Det. Jamie Paone said acted as anyone would expect their dog to during an attack, has been released to his owner. Though the dog is current on all its shots, it is on a routine 10-day quarantine.
