1. OLQOM Summer Festival

Where/When: July 27-July 30 Thursday and Friday 6-11 p.m., and Saturday 1-5 p.m. at Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket, RI

Why Go: This annual festival features a carnival midway with rides, games, food and more, plus bingo and raffles. Thursday evening, fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

2. Governor's Bay Day

Where/When: Saturday July 30 at 9 locations throughout the state.

Why Go: Free admission, free parking, entertainment and activities all day during the annual Rhode Island Bay Day held at state parks and beaches.

Pricing: FREE


3. Pick A Leaf, Make A Bag

Where/When: Saturday, July 30 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Audubon Society, Powder Mill Ledges Wildlife Refuge, 12 Sanderson Road, Smithfield, RI 

Why Go: Learn to identify some local plants and trees and create a useful Audubon leaf-printed canvas slouch backpack/tote. Take a short, easy walk on the refuge to identify the leaves and then return to the nature center to press print your bag. Ages 8 and up, registration required, please call (401) 949-5454.

Pricing: $15 or $12 for Audubon members.

 

4. Worms Worms Worms

Where/When: Thursday, July 28 from 12 - 1 p.m. at POW Science, 192 Wayland Avenue, Providence, RI.

Why Go: Kids will learn worm facts, how to make & manage a real worm farm, help feed the worms, handle worms, roly-poly bugs and more!

Pricing: $5.00

 

5. Citizens Bank Free Sundays on the River

Where/When: Sunday tours hourly at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. operating from Central Falls Landing at Broad Street & Madeira Avenue.

Why Go: Explore the hidden nature and wilderness along a portion of the historic Blackstone River aboard the 49-passenger river tour boat Blackstone Valley Explorer.
