Countdown to 2011, Part 2
Tomorrow night is New Year's Eve - still not sure if you're going out? Here's a few fun city establishments you might want to consider for your celebration.
In part 2 of the Countdown to 2010, we visit Rick's Bar and Grill, Ciro's and El Toro to get the details on local celebrations for Friday night and ask one very important question of business owners, managers and our readers: What is your New Year's resolution?
Dinner, dancing, AND an amazing meal
Ciro's on Cherry Street is running dinner specials for New Year's Eve with selections including Stuffed Filet L'aragosta and Vitello Romano. There's no cover charge if you skip the dinner and stop by for live entertainment by Naked Radio Band and One Dude and a Speaker. The staff will provide a complimentary champagne toast, party hats and noisemakers, and at midnight, you can watch the ball drop on one of their 6 high definition flatscreen TVs.
Karaoke and some neighborhood fun
Rick's Bar and Grill is planning a New Year's celebration with a DJ, Karaoke and "the regular crowd."
"Tomorrow, we're going to have a good time," said owner Rick Dias. Dias will be providing finger food, complimentary champagne, noisemakers and hats. There is no cover charge. His resolution this year is, "to make Rick's the best hometown bar around and to keep serving great food in a friendly atmosphere."
Prime rib and a toast
El Toro on Diamond Hill Road is running a New Year's special with prime rib for $12.99. The restaurant will have a DJ after 10 p.m. and a champagne toast, of course, at midnight. There's no cover charge there either, so stop in for a late night drink and to welcome the New Year. Manager John LoSoya said he doesn't really have a resolution this time around, but if he did it would be "to try not to work as much."
Still not convinced to brave the cold for a night out in the city? There are more New Year's Eve events in Woonsocket and tomorrow we'll visit the final establishments in our countdown to the end of the year.
